About Us: Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple
Singotam (Singapattanam) is located about 9 Kms from Kollapur village and the famous deity here is Lakshminarasimha Swamy in the form of Shiva Linga. It's a self emanated icon having Thripundrams and Urdhva Pundrams. After some time a shiva temple was construed at the right side of main temple and Ratna Lakshmi temple was constructed on the top of Ratnagiri hill. Thousands of pilgrims will congregate here on the eve of annual festival here and they come from neighbouring Karnataka state and also from Rajasthan. It has 600 years of glorious history and one of the oldest temples in the district. A cow herder tilling the land with his ploughs at dawn and is looking after his cows in the nearest fields during the time of Singamanaidu of Surabhi clan who belong to 11th generation. At that time a small black stone in the form of Shiva Linga gave obstruction to the tilling of land with plough. The farmer has shifted that stone many times to the nearest place but the stone itself reached its original place again and again and the farmer doesn't know anything to do. He is unable to realise the sanctity of that stone and days passed away. Then the cow herder prayed for Lord Srimannrayana Swamy to do the needful. Lord appeared to the king in his dream and said that he is located in the fields of a farmer at the Northern side in the form of Linga and giving obstruction to the farmer everyday and ordered the king for the installation of the idol in a temple for regular pujas. There is hill called Ratnagiri which is located about half km from Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple and goddess Ratna Lakshmi was installed on the top of the hill. Idol of the goddess was brought from Chennai in the year 1857 A.D about 150 years ago at the time of Queen Ratnamambha and was installed here. It's a good picnic spot for the surrounding people and one can have a guest house of Kollapur kings in the beautiful surroundings of the hill.
