About Us: Pillalamarri Shivalayam
Pillalamarri Shivalayam located 134 kms from Hyderabad city dates back to 11th century. This ancient temple is situated at bank of Musi River and in the middle of paddy fields. It is said to be constructed during the reign of Kakatiya empire who are noted for patronising temple dance traditions which is clearly visible in the architecture. The distinct pillars adorning the temple interior not only offer the structural strength to the temple, but also depict the Perini dance poses carved into the stone. The finely etched designs are a source of an inspiration to jewellery designers for designing bangles even today. Another interesting aspect about Pillalamarri is, the birthplace of the famous Telugu poet Pillamarri Pina Virabhadrudu, making the place not only historically but also culturally and religiously significant.
